Weekly Reflection - Eighth Week

This week of teaching practice at GHSS Anchalummood was both productive and engaging. I reached the school by 9.20 a.m. each day and continued my lessons with steady preparation and planning. In the classroom, I completed the chapter The Day My World Changed by Malala Yousafzai. ICT tools such as presentations and video clips were used to make the lesson more interactive and to help students connect with the text. After the lesson, I guided them through comprehension and follow-up activities like letter writing and short paragraph writing, which helped reinforce their understanding. I also introduced new grammar topics this week. Question Tag was taught using the Direct Method, while Pronouns were explained with the help of the Advance Organizer Model. These approaches encouraged student participation and made grammar practice more systematic. Apart from regular classes, there was a science exhibition conducted at the school, where we got the opportunity to witness our students' t...

Weekly Reflection - Seventh Week

This week of teaching practice unfolded with new energy as I continued the chapter The Day My World Changed by Malala Yousafzai. Each classroom moment became a space for exploration, where interactive slides helped me bring Malala’s experiences closer to the learners. I reached the school at 9.20 a.m. each day, carrying not just teaching aids but also the excitement of trying out new strategies that blended ICT with activity-based learning. Watching students connect Malala’s voice with their own dreams and struggles was truly inspiring. These sessions reminded me that teaching is not only about transmitting knowledge but also about igniting hope and imagination. Over the three days, I realized how literature, when paired with reflective writing and technology, can become a mirror for students to see their own possibilities more clearly. Amidst the usual academic flow, the school was alive with sports events, which made balancing teaching and other duties a challenging yet enric...

The past five days of my teaching practice turned out to be both engaging and fulfilling. On Day 21, after the Onam vacation, I introduced Adjectives using the Concept Attainment Model. The learners explored rules and patterns by examining examples and non-examples, which made the session interactive and discovery-oriegrowth.From Day 22 to Day 25, I focused on the inspiring prose lesson “The Day My World Changed” by Malala Yousafzai, presented with the support of ICT. Each day, I carried the lesson forward gradually, using PowerPoint slides, visuals, and activity cards to make Malala’s narrative more vivid. The students showed great enthusiasm, reflecting deeply on the themes of education and courage, which added richness to the classroom discussions. Our principal, Omanaseelan sir made a visit to our school on Tuesday, day 22. Beyond the lessons, I also gained experiences such as serving the midday meal, taking substitution periods, and managing double sessions. These responsibilities...
