Weekly Reflection - Third Week
Despite having only two working days — Thursday and Friday — this week added meaningful moments to my teaching internship at Government HSS Anchalummood. Short though it was, the week offered space for deeper engagement and personal growth in my role as a teacher trainee.
Stepping into Class 8G, my assigned class, I noticed a shift — not just in the students, but in myself. The classroom now feels like a space of shared understanding. Students approached the lesson with more curiosity, and I found myself more confident in navigating their questions and encouraging their voices.
We continued working through the lesson “Little Things Matter” by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, focusing on how small actions can have lasting impacts. The discussion sparked thoughtful responses, and many students were eager to share personal reflections, linking the text to real-life experiences.
I tried to make the sessions more dynamic by integrating visual aids and activity-based tools — from flashcards and charts to interactive games. These strategies not only sustained student interest but also anchored the lesson's values more tangibly. Sri Vidya Ma’am, the school’s English teacher, observed my classes. Her calm presence and constructive suggestions gave me clarity on areas I could refine, especially in managing transitions and pacing my instructions. Additionally, I handled two substitution classes, which allowed me to explore different student groups and adapt my style accordingly.
Though brief, the week left me with valuable takeaways. I am beginning to see how teaching is not just about delivering content — it's about building connections, reading the room, and creating opportunities for students to think, respond, and grow. I'm stepping into the coming week with fresh ideas and an eagerness to continue evolving.
