Weekly Reflection - Fourth Week

The fourth week of my teaching practice at Government HSS Anchalummood turned out to be more organized and engaging, as it consisted of a full five working days. My bond with Class 8F grew stronger during this period, and I started feeling more confident and connected with my learners.

On Monday, August 4th, I continued teaching the prose piece “Little Things Matter” by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. The learners showed genuine interest in the lesson, and I made use of charts, flashcards, and activity cards to simplify the concepts. The focus of the class was to highlight how small actions contribute to significant achievements.

Throughout the week, I moved forward with the lesson steadily, ensuring that the students not only understood the text but also related its values to their everyday experiences.

By Thursday, August 7th, I was able to complete the chapter successfully. This day held special significance as Amjada Ma’am observed my teaching. Her presence motivated me to deliver the best of my abilities, keeping the class both interactive and clear. The observation offered me valuable feedback, giving me the chance to reflect on my teaching style and recognize areas where I could improve.

On Friday, August 8th, I assigned the first two activities from the lesson to the students. These activities encouraged them to reflect upon the values emphasized in Kalam’s writing. The learners responded enthusiastically, sharing thoughtful perspectives and presenting meaningful written answers.

Altogether, this week was both rewarding and inspiring. Teaching this particular chapter reaffirmed for me how literature can deeply influence and guide students in their lives. I realized that with proper teaching aids, structured tasks, and effective guidance, lessons could have a lasting impact.
