Weekly Reflection - Second Week

The second week of our teaching internship at Government HSS Anchalummood, from July 21 to July 26, 2025, brought a sense of rhythm and deeper connection to our journey as student-teachers. With every passing day, the classroom began to feel more familiar, and the role of a teacher more natural.

Monday began on an engaging note. There was a quiz competition based on reading, encouraging students to reflect on the importance of books and comprehension. It was heartening to see the enthusiasm with which they participated. Continuing the literary spirit, Wednesday’s quiz on the life and works of Vaikom Muhammad Basheer brought lively discussion and admiration for the legendary writer, enriching the knowledge of students. As part of the NSS program in our college, we planted a sapling on wednesday.

This week, we also took on several substitution periods, which, although hectic, gave us valuable experience in managing various classes and situations on the spot. Our lunch serving duties continued, helping us bond with students outside the classroom setting and observe them more informally.

A significant event was the PTA meeting held on Saturday, where we had the chance to meet the parents of our students. Interacting with them gave us insights into the learners' backgrounds, strengths, and challenges. It deepened our understanding of our responsibilities as educators.

On the academic front, I felt more confident and settled this week. Students were noticeably more cooperative, and classroom management became smoother. I successfully completed one chapter and made a strong start on the next unit, integrating interactive methods to maintain interest and participation.

Each day reaffirmed that teaching is a dynamic blend of preparation, adaptation, and heart. Week two made me feel more assured in my role — not just as someone who teaches, but as someone who connects, understands, and grows with her learners.
